Client Accountant

About the role

We are seeking an accountant with 2‑4 years of experience in a Chartered Accounting firm to join our Client Accounting and Tax team in Auckland. You will work with a diverse portfolio of trusts, estates, charities and private clients, developing your accounting and tax expertise while delivering high‑quality services.

Key responsibilities

• Preparing financial statements and income tax returns for trusts, estates, charities and individuals
• Providing accounting and tax support to Client Managers
• Responding to client accounting and tax queries
• Preparing workpapers and ensuring files are technically accurate and complete
• Maintaining strong client relationships through professional and timely communication
• Ensuring compliance with New Zealand tax legislation and internal quality standards
• Identifying opportunities to improve processes and client outcomes

Required profile

• 2‑4 years’ experience in a New Zealand Chartered Accounting practice or similar client accounting environment
• Experience preparing financial statements, income tax returns and accounting workpapers for multiple clients
• Good understanding of New Zealand tax legislation and accounting principles
• Bachelor of Commerce, Bachelor of Business (Accounting) or equivalent qualification
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple deadlines while maintaining high accuracy
