Civil & Structures Project Engineer (Water Focus)

About the role

We are seeking a motivated Civil & Structures Project Engineer to join a respected mid‑sized contractor delivering complex water, wastewater and infrastructure projects across New Zealand. You will work closely with experienced Project Managers and site teams, taking ownership of projects from planning through to successful delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver civil and structural works for water treatment plants, pump stations, pipelines and related infrastructure.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop project schedules, budgets and quality plans.
• Coordinate with clients, consultants and subcontractors to ensure alignment on design and construction requirements.
• Monitor progress on‑site, manage change orders and support commissioning activities.
• Maintain project documentation and ensure compliance with health, safety and environmental standards.

Required profile

• Experience as a Project Engineer with a Tier 1 or large‑scale contractor.
• Proven local experience in civil and structural works.
• Exposure to water, wastewater, pipeline or treatment‑plant projects is highly desirable.
• Strong understanding of project delivery, quality assurance, programming and stakeholder coordination.
• Proactive attitude with a desire to learn, grow and take ownership.
