Civic Event Organiser – Auckland

About the role

We are looking for a Civic Event Organiser to join Auckland Council’s Events team. The role involves managing a portfolio of small‑to‑medium civic events across Southeast Auckland and, occasionally, the wider region, delivering them from concept through to successful on‑site execution.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate and deliver end‑to‑end civic events, including logistics, on‑site management and post‑event evaluation.
• Work closely with Local Boards, community groups, suppliers, elected members, VIPs and dignitaries.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety, risk, traffic and operational planning requirements.
• Support formal civic protocols and public‑facing event delivery, including occasional speaking.
• Manage varied working hours, including mornings, evenings and weekends.

Required profile

• Organised, proactive and accountable with strong time‑management skills.
• Proven experience delivering events from concept to completion.
• Ability to juggle competing priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
• Clean New Zealand driver licence and ability to travel independently.
• Understanding of tikanga Māori and te reo Māori is an advantage.
