Childcare Solicitor (Public Law) – Family Law

About the role

We are seeking a dedicated Childcare Solicitor with at least two years of post‑qualification experience to join a growing family law team in Shropshire. The role focuses on public law children matters, offering the chance to make a tangible impact on families while developing a specialist career path.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a diverse caseload of public law childcare proceedings, including care orders, supervision orders, and emergency protection orders.
• Represent parents, children, and extended family members in Family Court hearings.
• Provide clear, empathetic advice throughout Public Law Outline (PLO) pre‑proceedings and related applications.
• Ensure compliance with Legal Aid Agency requirements, Lexcel standards, and firm procedures.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, local authorities, and other stakeholders.

Required profile

• Qualified solicitor or CILEX Fellow with 2+ years PQE in public law or family law.
• Demonstrated experience handling care proceedings and related public law matters.
• Commitment to delivering client‑focused, compassionate legal services.
• Willingness to obtain or maintain Law Society Children Panel accreditation (support provided).

Required skills

• Knowledge of public law children legislation and case management.
• Familiarity with Legal Aid Agency processes and Lexcel standards.
• Strong advocacy skills for Family Court appearances.
