Charge Nurse – Emergency Room (Days)

About the role

The Charge Nurse ER Days provides day‑shift leadership in the Emergency Department at Mease Dunedin Hospital. You will coordinate patient care, support the nursing team, and ensure high‑quality, compassionate service for every patient.

Key responsibilities

• Independently care for a group of ER patients using the nursing process and clinical standards.
• Delegate appropriate patient‑care activities to other health‑care team members.
• Organize, prioritize, and update the plan of care in collaboration with patients, families, and significant others.
• Identify patients at risk for injury and prepare the room environment accordingly.
• Monitor, record, and communicate patient vitals and assessments to the care team.
• Detect sudden or subtle changes in a patient’s condition and respond to medical emergencies.
• Provide clear explanations of medical information to patients, fostering a positive care experience.

Required profile

• Current RN (Registered Nurse) license.
• BSN or related BS degree, or CEN certification within 7 months of hire.
• Minimum 2 years of registered nurse experience in an Emergency Department.
• Availability for a full‑time day shift (6:45 AM – 7:15 PM) with every other weekend work.

Required skills

• BLS certification (American Red Cross or American Heart Association).
• ACLS certification (American Heart Association).
• PALS certification (American Heart Association).
