The Category Lead will shape and execute strategic category plans and sourcing strategies to maximise value for a nationwide public‑sector procurement organisation. This senior position blends strategic thinking with hands‑on delivery, influencing stakeholders across all levels.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, lead and implement category plans and sourcing strategies aligned with organisational objectives.
• Analyse market trends and business needs to guide the creation of individual contracts within the category.
• Manage supplier relationships to ensure performance, compliance and value delivery.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to integrate category initiatives into broader procurement programmes.
• Monitor spend, track performance metrics and report on category outcomes.

Required profile

• Proven expertise in category management, procurement or commercial leadership.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and develop teams at a senior level.
• Experience managing substantial spend across multiple markets, geographies and categories.
• Strong analytical mindset with the capacity to translate data into strategic actions.
• Ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all organisational levels.
