CAPEX Manager

About the role

Wellington Electricity is seeking a Manager – CAPEX to lead a high‑value, complex capital works programme. You will oversee a large multi‑disciplinary team and ensure the delivery of network, reinforcement and customer‑initiated projects.

Key responsibilities

• Lead 5 direct and 16 indirect reports, ensuring overall success of the CAPEX delivery programme.
• Scope, schedule and deliver complex, network integrity, exclusive CAPEX and customer‑initiated projects on time and within budget.
• Manage risks, provide technical support throughout the project lifecycle, and uphold health‑and‑safety standards.
• Mentor Engineering Delivery Managers and oversee a 24‑month capital programme.
• Monitor, report and drive progress of the programme, engaging with service providers on tenders and contracts.
• Ensure adherence to approved project methodologies and lead quality audits.
• Contribute to the Service Delivery Leadership Team, resource workstreams and identify continuous‑improvement opportunities.

Required profile

• Experienced leader in electricity distribution, transmission or generation.
• Strong expertise in project and engineering delivery, able to influence senior stakeholders.
• Balance strategic programme leadership with hands‑on technical and construction management.
• Proven ability to manage performance across cost, quality, risk and schedule.
• Demonstrated experience developing, mentoring and supporting high‑performing teams.
