Business Analyst - Data & AI

About the role

Fonterra is hiring a technically capable, delivery-focused Business Analyst for its Data & AI team in Auckland. Working across Finance, Data & AI and technology teams, you will turn complex finance needs into practical data and analytics solutions, translating business demand into clear technical requirements and coordinated delivery plans.

Key responsibilities

• Manage end-to-end delivery across Data Engineering, Testing and Visualisation, covering planning, prioritisation, testing, release and handover while keeping dependencies and competing priorities on track.
• Support documentation, metadata and data catalogues so solutions are well understood, supportable and ready for business handover.
• Identify opportunities to improve reliability, automation and delivery efficiency.
• Work in a modern cloud data environment using Azure, Databricks and Power BI, and explore how AI and emerging technologies can improve delivery.

Required profile

• Technical understanding, delivery capability and practical problem-solving; able to turn complex requirements into clear actions for technical teams.
• Background in technical business analysis, data engineering, analytics or technology delivery.
• Confident communicator who asks the right questions, challenges assumptions and builds trusted relationships across business and technical teams.
• Curious, continuous-improvement mindset and interest in emerging technologies such as Generative AI and LLMs.

Required skills

• Strong SQL and working knowledge of Python, in modern cloud and data environments, ideally including Azure, Databricks and ETL/ELT pipelines.
• Data modelling, testing, CI/CD and release practices.
• Power BI, metadata, data lineage and cataloguing.
