Builder / Foreperson

About the role

Downer is seeking an experienced Builder / Foreperson to join its Invercargill construction team. This hands‑on leadership position involves coordinating crews, overseeing daily site activities, and ensuring high‑quality civil and construction outcomes across Southland projects.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and supervise on‑site construction crews and subcontractors.
• Plan, organise and monitor daily site operations to meet project schedules.
• Maintain strict quality standards and safe work practices.
• Resolve on‑site issues promptly and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
• Communicate progress and challenges to project managers and stakeholders.

Required profile

• Proven experience in building or civil construction.
• Previous foreman or leadership experience preferred.
• Strong communication and organisational abilities.
• Commitment to quality workmanship and safety.
• Full Class 1 driver’s licence (Class 2 advantageous).
