BTS Associate Scientist – Specialist (2‑Year Fixed‑Term)

About the role

Join a global‑leading Animal Health organisation as a BTS Associate Scientist – Specialist on a 2‑year fixed‑term contract. Based in Upper Hutt, New Zealand, you will work with cutting‑edge vaccine and bioprocess technologies, supporting the reliable supply of life‑saving animal vaccines.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and validate ELISA methods and support other in‑vitro antigen assay development.
• Manage assigned projects, track progress and report risks or issues.
• Contribute to continuous‑improvement initiatives such as On‑Point and 8‑Step Problem Solving.
• Collaborate with local and global teams across BTS, Manufacturing, Quality, R&D, Regulatory and Supply Chain.
• Support vaccine process development, technology transfer and prepare technical documentation.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Immunology, Protein Biology, Biotechnology, Microbiology or a related field.
• Strong analytical and critical‑thinking abilities.
• Effective communication, organisational and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work in a matrix GMP biopharma/vaccine manufacturing environment.
• Developing project‑management capabilities with a focus on meeting timelines.
