Biosecurity Auditor – Containment

About the role

As a Biosecurity Auditor you will deliver verification programmes for high‑risk containment and transitional facilities, helping to protect New Zealand’s primary industries from pests and diseases. The role involves auditing verification programmes approved under the Biosecurity Act 1993 and providing assurance for trade and the economy.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver verification programmes for high‑risk containment and transitional facilities.
• Conduct investigations and unannounced verifications as required.
• Provide technical guidance, coaching and direction to staff and stakeholders on regulatory and compliance matters.
• Lead and deliver assurance, review and compliance programmes across complex environments.
• Lead investigations, reviews, audits or assessments to address organisational risks and performance challenges.

Required profile

• Experience working in laboratory or containment settings with an understanding of laboratory practices and operational processes.
• Relevant scientific qualification.
• Previous auditing experience is an advantage.
• Self‑starter who can work independently and as part of a team.
• Resilient, results‑focused with strong communication skills.
• Full New Zealand driver’s licence.
