Banking Lawyer – 5+ Years PQE

About the role

This position is within a leading full‑service firm’s Auckland banking and finance team. The lawyer will work on a broad spectrum of local and cross‑border financing transactions, providing direct client contact and opportunities for career progression.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and advise on corporate, commercial, leveraged, property, construction, asset, receivables financing and securitisation transactions.
• Draft and negotiate loan, security and guarantee documentation, ensuring compliance with the PPSA.
• Provide regulatory advice on consumer credit and financial services, supporting entrants to the New Zealand market.
• Collaborate with banks, financial institutions, SMEs and start‑ups on both domestic and cross‑border deals.

Required profile

• 5+ years post‑qualification experience in transactional banking and finance.
• Strong working knowledge of loan, security and guarantee documentation, including the PPSA.
• Domestic financing experience; cross‑border exposure is a plus.
• Ability to serve a diverse client base and deliver high‑quality client service.
• Commercial acumen, attention to detail and a commitment to long‑term development as a banking finance expert.
