Azure Solution Architect

About the role

Datacom is looking for an Azure-focused Solution Architect in Tauranga, combining technical depth with strong consulting and leadership skills. The role covers the full solution lifecycle: shaping opportunities, engaging customers, designing cloud-native solutions on Microsoft Azure, leading delivery teams and contributing to implementation.

Key responsibilities

• Create end-to-end solution architectures for Azure applications, integrations, APIs, data platforms, AI capabilities and cloud services.
• Build trusted relationships with customers, run workshops and turn business requirements into technical solutions.
• Lead and mentor delivery teams, covering integration patterns, API strategy and governance, and messaging and event-driven design.
• Stay hands-on with implementation through code reviews, proof-of-concepts, technical spikes, troubleshooting and occasional development.
• Support proposals, estimates, solution assessments and customer presentations.
• Ensure solutions follow architectural principles, security requirements and quality standards.
• Help customers modernise applications and integration landscapes with Azure services.
• Promote reusable patterns, automation and DevOps practices.

Required profile

• Strong experience designing and delivering solutions on Microsoft Azure.
• Experience leading technical teams and giving architectural guidance in delivery.
• Experience in pre-sales, estimation, proposal development or solution shaping.
• Agile delivery experience and collaboration across multidisciplinary teams.
• Ability to engage with customers and balance architectural ideals with delivery realities.

Required skills

• Enterprise Integration Patterns and API strategy and governance.
• Hands-on software engineering in .NET, C# and Azure services.
• Cloud architecture, security, scalability, reliability and operational excellence.
