Associate Nurse Unit Manager

About the role

The Associate Nurse Unit Manager will lead a specialist forensic mental health unit, ensuring high‑quality patient care and supporting the multidisciplinary team. This full‑time, on‑site position is based in Christchurch Central and reports to senior clinical leadership.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee day‑to‑day nursing operations within the forensic unit.
• Coordinate patient assessments, treatment plans, and discharge processes.
• Manage staffing rotas, supervise nursing staff, and promote professional development.
• Ensure compliance with clinical governance, health and safety, and regulatory standards.
• Collaborate with medical, allied health, and security teams to deliver integrated care.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse qualification with current NZ registration.
• Significant experience in mental health or forensic nursing settings.
• Demonstrated leadership or supervisory experience.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
