Associate, Ecology

About the role

Aurecon is launching a new ecology capability in New Zealand and seeks an experienced Associate to lead the effort. Based in Auckland, you will build and grow a dedicated ecology team while delivering high‑impact environmental outcomes for transport, water and renewable energy projects.

Key responsibilities

• Establish and expand Aurecon’s ecology practice in New Zealand.
• Develop strong relationships with key and platinum clients, identifying and converting new business opportunities.
• Win and deliver ecology projects across transport, water and renewable energy sectors.
• Provide technical leadership throughout the ecology reporting and assessment lifecycle.
• Mentor and develop emerging ecology professionals as the team grows.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated environmental solutions.
• Shape the future direction of Aurecon’s ecology offering and market presence.

Required profile

• Degree in Ecology, Environmental Science or a related discipline.
• 10+ years of ecology experience within New Zealand.
• Proven track record delivering ecology assessments and reports across all project stages.
• Experience in work winning, client management and business development.
• Strong relationships across New Zealand infrastructure, transport, water and renewable energy sectors.
• Demonstrated ability to lead projects, mentor staff and build high‑performing teams.
• Excellent communication and influencing skills.
• Entrepreneurial mindset with a passion for growing new service offerings.
