Assistant Preconstruction Manager

About the role

Join Unispace’s Christchurch team to help shape some of New Zealand’s most exciting commercial workplaces. As an Assistant Preconstruction Manager you will work alongside experienced Preconstruction Managers, designers and commercial teams to move projects from concept through to delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Support live tenders and pre‑construction activities, reviewing drawings and specifications for scope, risks and buildability.
• Coordinate subcontractor and supplier pricing and assist with cost plans, estimates and project budgets.
• Manage RFIs, tender documentation and submissions, maintaining pricing records, assumptions and risk registers.
• Support procurement planning, project programmes and preparation of client presentations and hand‑over documentation.
• Collaborate with design, commercial and delivery teams to ensure projects are commercially sound and ready for construction.

Required profile

• 2‑5 years’ experience in estimating, pre‑construction, project coordination or quantity surveying.
• Strong analytical mindset with ability to identify risks and buildability issues.
• Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills with subcontractors, consultants and suppliers.
• Proactive, detail‑oriented and able to work in a fast‑paced, collaborative environment.
