Assistant DNS

About the role

The Assistant DNS supports the Director of Nutrition Services in the daily operation of an Opaa! Food Management account within a school district. The role blends production, compliance, administrative, supervisory and client‑relationship tasks to ensure safe, efficient and high‑quality food service.

Key responsibilities

• Arrange substitute staffing, transport food products between district buildings, and cover on‑line staff duties as needed.
• Maintain a clean, organized office and kitchen environment and ensure adherence to Opaa! core values and food‑service policies.
• Assist with production records, menu compliance, HACCP monitoring, and preparation of monthly in‑service and NAC meetings.
• Enter invoices, reconcile cash reports, update inventory spreadsheets, and consolidate weekly food orders.
• Support catering coordination, marketing events, and preparation of status reports for the Board of Education.
• Help supervise, train, and certify kitchen staff, manage performance issues, and oversee cleanliness of storage areas.

Required profile

• Ability to work closely with the Director of Nutrition Services and follow established procedures.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail for record‑keeping and inventory management.
• Experience in a food‑service or nutrition environment, preferably within an educational setting.
• Capability to supervise staff, resolve conflicts and ensure compliance with safety standards.

Required skills
