Art Director (Contract)

About the role

We are seeking a highly skilled Art Director to lead a team of designers for a prominent New Zealand brand. This fixed‑term position runs for one year starting July 2026 and offers a hybrid work model with two days per week remote after an initial full‑time onboarding period.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and support graphic designers to produce high‑impact visual concepts and presentations.
• Collaborate on the ideation and development of innovative marketing campaigns.
• Work closely with the Motion Director to ensure brand consistency across all channels.
• Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of visual design standards, processes, and trends.
• Provide backup support for workflow and administration, ensuring proper file management.
• Lead a team of four direct reports, mentor creative staff, and foster a positive team culture.
• Build strong relationships with external suppliers, agencies, and internal marketing, communications, and retail teams.

Required profile

• Detail‑oriented with a strong eye for visual quality.
• Innovative and creative approach to brand and design work.
• Excellent understanding of the design process from concept to delivery.
• Ability to lead, mentor, and inspire a creative team.
