Application Engineer – Personal Safety

About the role

The Application Engineer in the Personal Safety Division will provide technical and application support for 3M’s PPE portfolio across New Zealand. Acting as the primary technical liaison, you will work directly with customers, distributors and internal teams to drive product adoption, field trials and new‑product commercialization.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct customer visits, workplace assessments and application evaluations to recommend appropriate PPE solutions.
• Lead field trials, product demonstrations and technical troubleshooting for complex issues.
• Partner with Sales and Marketing on strategic opportunities and support major account conversions.
• Capture Voice of Customer insights, share market intelligence and identify opportunities for product improvement.
• Support new‑product introductions, product lifecycle transitions and regulatory compliance activities.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science or a related field.
• Relevant experience in application engineering, technical service or industrial safety, preferably with PPE.
• Proven ability to work independently and collaborate across sales, R&D, quality and regulatory teams.

Required skills

• Knowledge of PPE standards and regulatory requirements.
• Technical troubleshooting and product evaluation expertise.
