Analyst / Associate, Institutional Banking

About the role

Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group (MUFG) is recruiting an Analyst / Associate for its sector coverage team in New Zealand, supporting the origination and management of corporate and institutional customers through credit reviews and portfolio management. The role is open to both permanent and 12-month fixed-term positions, and applications are considered for both.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct annual credit reviews and internal rating assessments for corporate clients, in line with internal procedures and risk targets
• Monitor covenant compliance across accounts and support refinancing initiatives
• Prepare credit proposals for new transactions, including deal structuring, financial analysis and industry research
• Help prepare client presentations and account plans
• Engage with customers on onboarding, periodic reviews and credit requests
• Collaborate with credit, KYC, risk, compliance, legal and operations teams
• Support sector risk/return analysis for infrastructure and structured finance clients

Required profile

• Analyst (1-3 years) or Associate (4-7 years) experience at a major domestic bank or chartered accounting firm; credit rating agencies, investment banks, investment management firms or corporate treasury teams are also welcome
• Degree in Business, Commerce or Law from a leading university; Masters of Finance, MBA or CFA considered favourably
• Understanding of financial markets and economic trends relevant to corporate banking
• Experience of independent research on customers or markets
