About the role

The Reserve Bank is seeking an Advisor to join its Risk Specialist team within the Financial Stability Group. This permanent position is based in Auckland or Wellington and offers a flexible hybrid working environment. You will help shape the future of financial sector resilience in New Zealand by leading work at the forefront of cyber resilience, technology risk, and supervision.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and support Group strategy, policy and supervision initiatives related to cyber and technology risk, operational resilience, outsourcing and incident reporting.
• Develop supervisory frameworks, provide specialist advice and challenge, and produce analytical projects and technical reviews.
• Offer thought leadership on global and domestic cyber threats, emerging vulnerabilities and their impact on regulated entities.
• Maintain cyber incident response protocols and lead the Reserve Bank’s response to regulated‑entity incident reporting.
• Build and maintain relationships with internal stakeholders, public‑sector regulators, cyber agencies and international central banks.

Required profile

• At least five years of experience in banking, insurance, financial markets, cyber security, technology risk, GRC or related fields.
• Relevant tertiary qualification in information technology, cyber security, computer science, engineering, risk management, finance or a related discipline.
• Strong technical expertise in financial services risk management, operational resilience and cyber resilience.
