Admissions Adviser

About the role

The University of Auckland is seeking a motivated, detail‑focused Admissions Adviser to join its Student Engagement team. In this fast‑paced role you will help prospective students from New Zealand and overseas begin their university journey by assessing applications, providing expert advice and supporting complex admission and credit processes.

Key responsibilities

• Assess applications for admission in line with university regulations and criteria.
• Determine admissibility and evaluate transferability of credit for undergraduate and postgraduate applicants.
• Support students in completing conditions, with a focus on Safety Check compliance.
• Conduct safety check interviews and provide accurate, timely advice to applicants, agents and university staff.
• Manage applications through the student management system, meeting service standards and timeframes.

Required profile

• Strong organisational skills and sound judgement.
• Excellent communication and professional presentation.
• Reliability and dependability for pre‑booked interviews.
• Experience interviewing applicants.
• Background in teaching, social work or knowledge of the Children’s Act is an advantage.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Experience using Microsoft Teams.
• Familiarity with Zoom for virtual interviews.
