Admiral Nurse – Dementia Specialist (Sussex)

About the role

The Admiral Nurse role supports families and carers of people living with dementia across East and West Sussex. Working in partnership with Dementia UK, you will provide specialist, person‑centred care that helps families navigate the emotional and practical challenges of dementia.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver specialist dementia assessments and support, including home visits.
• Develop personalised, evidence‑based intervention plans for carers and people with dementia.
• Promote relationship‑centred care and support carers’ wellbeing.
• Collaborate with health and social care professionals to ensure coordinated support.
• Contribute to service development and best‑practice improvement.
• Provide dementia‑focused training to colleagues, carers and partner organisations.
• Support families in Northern Ireland on a periodic basis, with travel expenses covered.

Required profile

• Registered Mental Nurse (RMN) or Registered General Nurse (RGN) qualification.
• Full clean UK driving licence.
• Minimum two years post‑registration experience supporting people affected by dementia.
• Experience in community or outreach settings.
• Strong understanding of person‑centred and relationship‑centred dementia care.

What we offer

• Salary range £47,070‑£56,031 per annum (including car allowance and responsibility allowance).
• Additional £2,000 per annum responsibility allowance for Northern Ireland travel.
• Full‑time Monday‑Friday schedule, 9:00 am‑5:00 pm.
• Hybrid working model with approximately 60% face‑to‑face and 40% remote support.
• Travel expenses covered for regional duties.
