Accountant – Join a Small Finance Team

About the role

Hayes Metals is seeking a dedicated Accountant to become an integral part of its small, hands‑on finance team in Onehunga, Auckland. Reporting directly to the CFO, you will help ensure accurate financial reporting and support day‑to‑day accounting operations.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the CFO with financial reporting, month‑end close and reconciliations.
• Maintain general ledger entries and ensure compliance with local accounting standards.
• Prepare and analyse financial statements, budgets and forecasts.
• Support audit processes and liaise with external auditors as required.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of accounting procedures and internal controls.

Required profile

• Relevant accounting qualification or equivalent experience.
• Strong attention to detail and analytical mindset.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a small team environment.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
