Training Specialist – Biocontainment Facility

About the role

The Training Specialist will enable organisational readiness for the new Plant Health & Environment Capability (PHEC) facility in Auckland. You will define capability needs, ensure staff are equipped to work safely in PC2 and PC3 biocontainment environments, and embed training into everyday operations.

Key responsibilities

• Lead comprehensive training needs analysis to identify capability gaps across impacted groups.
• Develop and maintain Capability and Transition Training Plans aligned with programme timelines and operational milestones.
• Provide strategic direction and quality assurance for the design and coordination of training programmes covering capability uplift, site transition, and PC3 biocontainment requirements.
• Plan, coordinate and facilitate training delivery, managing risks and dependencies.
• Guide the creation of high‑quality training materials, ensuring consistency with adult learning principles.
• Partner with programme leaders and stakeholders to support organisational change through targeted training interventions.
• Ensure training outcomes meet regulatory compliance, accreditation and operational readiness at go‑live.
• Establish evaluation frameworks to measure training effectiveness and drive continuous improvement.
• Oversee training governance, records and documentation to ensure audit readiness.

Required profile

• Proven experience in designing and delivering training programmes in regulated or specialised environments.
• Ability to work collaboratively with programme leads, subject‑matter experts and stakeholders.
• Strong analytical skills to translate capability gaps into actionable training plans.
