Trades Assistant

About the role

Alliance, a global supplier of premium grass‑fed lamb, beef and venison, is seeking an experienced Trades Assistant for its Nelson plant. The role supports the engineering team to keep plant equipment operating safely and efficiently.

Key responsibilities

• Work closely with Shift Engineers to complete maintenance tasks and repairs.
• Report equipment faults or damages promptly.
• Conduct repairs on faulty machinery and ensure engineering services operate at optimum levels.
• Maintain a safe working environment and adhere to health and safety standards.

Required profile

• Mechanically minded with hands‑on maintenance and diagnostics experience.
• Strong focus on health and safety.
• Workshop skills, including welding.
• Good problem‑solving and innovative thinking.
• Intermediate computer skills and strong verbal and written communication.
• Experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Forklift licence and a trade qualification in engineering or fitting are highly desirable.
