Senior Sous Chef

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Sous Chef to join the culinary team at Rosewood Kauri Cliffs, a luxury resort in the Bay of Islands, New Zealand. Reporting to the Head Chef and Director of Culinary, you will play a hands‑on role supporting kitchen operations and shaping the team culture.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain adequate supplies at all cooking stations.
• Train, develop and support junior chefs.
• Optimise cooking processes to ensure speed and quality.
• Monitor dish quality during preparation and presentation.
• Uphold exceptional hygiene and food‑safety standards.
• Contribute creatively to menu development and plate presentation.

Required profile

• Minimum 2 years experience in high‑end restaurants or luxury hotels.
• Flexible, can‑do attitude and ability to thrive under pressure.
• Strong interest in sourcing local produce.
• Excellent time‑management, communication and multitasking skills.
• Team‑player who can lead and motivate the kitchen crew.
