About the role
We are seeking a Senior Sous Chef to join the culinary team at Rosewood Kauri Cliffs, a luxury resort in the Bay of Islands, New Zealand. Reporting to the Head Chef and Director of Culinary, you will play a hands‑on role supporting kitchen operations and shaping the team culture.
Key responsibilities
- Maintain adequate supplies at all cooking stations.
- Train, develop and support junior chefs.
- Optimise cooking processes to ensure speed and quality.
- Monitor dish quality during preparation and presentation.
- Uphold exceptional hygiene and food‑safety standards.
- Contribute creatively to menu development and plate presentation.
Required profile
- Minimum 2 years experience in high‑end restaurants or luxury hotels.
- Flexible, can‑do attitude and ability to thrive under pressure.
- Strong interest in sourcing local produce.
- Excellent time‑management, communication and multitasking skills.
- Team‑player who can lead and motivate the kitchen crew.
