Senior Project Manager – Solar Farm Projects

About the role

This is the first permanent hire for a newly‑established renewable‑energy developer in New Zealand. The Senior Project Manager will lead the delivery of multiple utility‑scale solar farm projects from late‑stage development through construction, commissioning and hand‑over.

Key responsibilities

• Manage end‑to‑end delivery of several solar farm projects across New Zealand.
• Develop and maintain integrated programmes, budgets, risk registers and reporting frameworks.
• Coordinate civil, electrical, grid, environmental and commercial workstreams.
• Oversee EPC contractors, owners’ engineers, consultants and specialist advisors.
• Negotiate variations, claims and commercial outcomes with commercial and legal teams.
• Ensure compliance with New Zealand health, safety, environmental and quality standards.
• Build and maintain relationships with landowners, local councils, regulators, Transpower, network operators and community stakeholders.
• Provide regular progress reviews, site meetings and executive reporting.

Required profile

• Senior‑level experience delivering utility‑scale solar farm projects.
• Proven ability to work independently while collaborating with Australian‑based development, engineering and commercial teams.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship‑building skills.
• Demonstrated contractor management and procurement experience.
• Knowledge of New Zealand regulatory, environmental and HSE requirements.
