Senior ICT Systems Administrator

About the role

The Senior ICT Systems Administrator will own the stability and continuous improvement of Wellington Free Ambulance’s ICT environment. This senior‑level position provides engineering expertise, leads technical decisions and sets standards across infrastructure, cloud and end‑user platforms while acting as the primary escalation point for complex issues.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain technical ownership of the organisation’s ICT infrastructure and ensure high availability.
• Lead design and implementation of solutions, define technical standards and optimise systems.
• Provide senior‑level engineering support and act as the escalation point for the ICT team.
• Drive continuous improvement, automation and problem‑management across servers, cloud services and endpoints.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to align ICT services with business needs.

Required profile

• 5+ years of ICT experience, including at least 3 years in systems administration, infrastructure engineering or senior technical support.
• Advanced expertise with Microsoft enterprise technologies (Windows Server, AD, Azure AD, Microsoft 365, Exchange, Intune).
• Strong PowerShell scripting and automation experience.
• Solid understanding of networking and security (switching, firewalls, VPN).
