Quality Assessor – Production (Timaru)

About the role

McCain Foods is seeking a Quality Assessor to join its Timaru fry‑plant team. You will oversee quality testing from incoming raw potatoes through to finished products, ensuring compliance with food safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Perform quality checks on raw potatoes, in‑process items, and final packaged goods.
• Maintain accurate documentation for each shift in line with the food safety management system.
• Monitor and enforce HACCP, GMP, and other relevant quality procedures.
• Identify non‑conformances, investigate root causes, and implement corrective actions.
• Support rotating 12‑hour shift pattern (two days, two nights, four days off).

Required profile

• Strong commitment to health and safety.
• Effective team player with good organisational and communication skills across departments.
• Ability to manage multiple projects, think logically, and solve problems.
• Legal entitlement to work in New Zealand and willingness to undergo medical and drug screening.

Required skills

• Knowledge of HACCP and GMP food safety standards.
• Experience with Warehouse Management Systems.
• Familiarity with Environmental Management Systems.
• Ability to create and update technical documentation.
