Project Manager / Senior Project Manager - Data Centres

About the role

Turner & Townsend, a global professional services company with over 22,000 people in more than 62 countries, is hiring a Project Manager or Senior Project Manager for data centres in Auckland. The role leads and manages complex projects and programmes as the key client interface, working across real estate, infrastructure, energy and natural resources.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage complex projects and programmes, building working relationships, solving problems and driving them to successful completion
• Manage the design process to meet client requirements and manage expectations
• Review project plans and specifications, scheduling, cost-saving measures, discrepancies and potential construction problems
• Manage project safety and environmental requirements, timelines, risks and reporting
• Manage project budgets and advise on options to keep the budget on track
• Engage with marketing and business development initiatives
• Coordinate vendor scope with overall project delivery
• Draft contract documents in line with legally approved templates and manage contract documents with the project team

Required profile

• Professional or tertiary qualification in project management, engineering or construction
• 5 to 10 years of project management experience, preferably in a data centre or similar technical environment
• Thorough understanding of the full project life cycle, from inception and design through to construction completion and post-project review
• Excellent command of written and spoken English, with strong report and bid writing skills
• Ability to thrive in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment

Required skills

• Technical understanding of data centre infrastructure: HVAC, electrical, generators, fire, security and BMS
• Strong knowledge of project management concepts, tools and techniques
• Advanced Microsoft skills are essential; Primavera skills are highly regarded
• Communication, conflict resolution and negotiation skills
