Platform Engineer – Azure & Kubernetes (3‑6 month contract)

About the role

We are seeking a Platform Engineer to design, build, and maintain secure, automated cloud platforms on Microsoft Azure and Kubernetes. This 3‑6 month contract position is based in Wellington and focuses on delivering compliant, resilient environments for containerised applications.

Key responsibilities

• Engineer and operate secure Azure environments for development and production workloads.
• Design, deploy, and manage Kubernetes clusters and associated artefact repositories.
• Implement platform guardrails, lifecycle controls, and runtime security policies.
• Develop automated CI/CD pipelines using infrastructure‑as‑code and configuration‑as‑code practices.
• Generate assurance evidence for accreditation and ensure compliance with security standards.
• Support platform resilience, recovery procedures, and maintain operational documentation and runbooks.

Required profile

• Secret‑level security clearance.
• Experience working in security‑sensitive or regulated environments.
• Strong background in cloud platform engineering, particularly Azure.
• Proven ability to design and operate Kubernetes‑based solutions.
