Optometrist – New Store Opening in Nelson

About the role

Bailey Nelson is opening a brand‑new optical store in Nelson Central in November 2026 and is seeking a qualified Optometrist to lead patient care and support the launch. This full‑time, on‑site position offers a competitive salary and a sign‑on bonus.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive eye examinations and refractions for a diverse client base.
• Prescribe and dispense spectacles, contact lenses, and other optical products.
• Provide patient counseling on eye health, lens options, and proper eyewear use.
• Maintain and calibrate optical equipment to ensure accurate assessments.
• Collaborate with store staff to deliver a seamless retail experience during the store opening phase.

Required profile

• Registered Optometrist with the New Zealand Optometrists Board.
• Proven experience working in a retail or optical store environment.
• Strong customer‑service orientation and ability to work in a fast‑growing team.
• Leadership potential to contribute to store development.
