Lecturer in Strategic Communication (Fixed‑Term, 3 years)

About the role

The University of Canterbury invites applications for a part‑time Lecturer in Strategic Communication. This fixed‑term position (3 years) involves teaching, course development and student support within the Media and Communication programme.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate and deliver three courses: an undergraduate ‘Advertising and Cultural Consumption’ module, an advanced undergraduate strategic communication course, and a postgraduate ‘Strategic Communication Portfolio’ capstone.
• Design and launch the postgraduate course for both on‑campus and online delivery, ensuring strong links with the professional strategic communication field.
• Collaborate with colleagues across the Media and Communication programme and UC Online to develop curriculum and teaching resources.
• Provide pastoral care and advocacy for students enrolled in strategic communication pathways.

Required profile

• Relevant academic qualifications and teaching experience in strategic communication, media, or related fields.
• Demonstrated ability to develop new course material and deliver content both in‑person and online.
• Willingness to build and maintain professional networks within the strategic communication industry.
