Head of Commercial

About the role

Join one of New Zealand’s most recognised digital businesses as the Head of Commercial. Reporting to the CFO and sitting on the Senior Leadership Team, you will shape the commercial engine of a complex digital organisation, influencing strategy at Board and Executive level.

Key responsibilities

• Develop complex financial models and business cases for new market entries, product launches and pricing strategies.
• Own quarterly forecasting and annual budgeting for the assigned portfolio, preparing Board and Executive presentations.
• Champion capital allocation decisions and challenge commercial assumptions at senior levels.
• Lead, coach and develop a team of Commercial Business Partners and Analysts, moving the function from reporting to strategic partnering.
• Coordinate monthly Board reporting and contribute to senior leadership challenge sessions.
• Partner with M&A and Strategy teams to identify, size and execute acquisition opportunities.
• Leverage AI and BI tools to shift focus toward high‑value strategic analysis.

Required profile

• 10+ years of progressive experience in finance, strategy or commercial leadership.
• Proven expertise in pricing strategy, go‑to‑market modelling and commercial business casing.
• Strong ability to influence and constructively challenge senior stakeholders, including Board members.
• Experience leading and developing direct reports in a commercial finance environment.
• Background in technology, e‑commerce or digital businesses is highly regarded.
