About the role

The Group Business Partner, People and Capability will shape workforce strategy and drive organisational effectiveness for a building and construction organisation in Henderson, Auckland. This senior‑level, permanent role partners with senior leaders to embed high‑performance culture and employee engagement.

Key responsibilities

  • Act as trusted advisor to senior leaders, aligning people strategies with business priorities and commercial realities.
  • Provide expert guidance on employment relations, investigations, disciplinary processes and complex case management.
  • Partner with leaders to plan and deliver change initiatives, including restructures, role redesign and culture programmes.
  • Lead end‑to‑end recruitment and job design activities, from role scoping to selection.
  • Oversee core HR services such as onboarding, performance management, remuneration, learning and development, and off‑boarding.
  • Utilise HRIS platforms, digital workflows, AI‑enabled tools and large language models to improve HR process quality, speed and consistency.
  • Support leadership development, succession planning and capability‑building aligned to the People and Capability roadmap.
  • Lead or contribute to strategic projects that enhance people systems, culture, capability and workforce performance.

Required profile

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a senior HR role, preferably within the building and construction industry.
  • Strong understanding of New Zealand employment law and HR best practices.
  • Proven ability to develop and implement HR strategies that align with business objectives.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with stakeholder influence at all levels.
  • Strong analytical skills and experience using HR metrics for decision‑making.
  • Demonstrated capability to lead change and manage complex HR initiatives.
