Driver / Operator

About the role

Join Downer’s Whangarei team as a Driver / Operator, supporting the upgrade and maintenance of roads, pathways and connections across the region. You will work outdoors, operating a variety of plant and contributing to civil construction projects.

Key responsibilities

• Operate a range of plant equipment, including tractors and rollers.
• Pick up civil work, prepare sites and assist with road construction activities.
• Spread sealing chip using a roller spreader where required.
• Maintain equipment in safe working order and follow all safety procedures.
• Travel to multiple sites within the Whangarei area as needed.

Required profile

• Team player who can also work independently when required.
• Physically fit and able to spend long periods outdoors.
• Commitment to safe work practices.
• Full Class 4 driver licence (Class 5 licence highly regarded).
• WTR endorsements are beneficial.
• Prior experience in road construction or civil works is preferred but not essential.

Required skills

• Full Class 4 Driver Licence.
• Class 5 Driver Licence (highly regarded).
• Experience spreading sealing chip using a roller spreader.
• WTR endorsements.
• Practical work experience in road construction and civil works.
