Driver Operator - Civil Construction

About the role

Downer is seeking a Driver Operator to join its Queenstown Maintenance Team. You will work outdoors on a stunning alpine network, performing routine, winter and emergency maintenance to keep infrastructure safe and operational.

Key responsibilities

• Present, service, maintain and operate plant machinery safely and efficiently.
• Transport, load and unload machinery and equipment across the Queenstown and Wanaka network.
• Support maintenance initiatives and urgent repair work on infrastructure.
• Comply with relevant legislation, regulations and company policies while meeting productivity and quality targets.
• Participate in occasional weekend, on‑call and winter rostered maintenance shifts.

Required profile

• Valid Class 4/5 full New Zealand driver’s licence.
• Proven ability to care for, maintain and operate plant and heavy equipment.
• Experience in transporting, loading and unloading machinery.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a positive safety attitude.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends.
