About the role

The Youth Shelter for Unaccompanied Minors in Athens seeks a part‑time Assistant Cook on a rotational basis. You will be responsible for preparing nutritious meals for 28 children and supporting the kitchen operations in a dynamic, mission‑driven environment.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare breakfast, lunch and dinner for the residents.
• Collaborate with the kitchen manager to purchase food supplies according to needs.
• Maintain cleanliness and hygiene of kitchen areas.
• Manage inventory records, stock books and related documentation.
• Distribute meals at scheduled times and ensure proper storage.
• Report any dietary issues, conflicts or special requirements to the supervisory staff.
• Adapt to urgent situations as directed by the coordination team.

Required profile

• Formal qualification from a culinary school.
• Relevant professional experience in food preparation.
• Experience in stock and inventory management.
• Preferred: driver’s licence, basic English, volunteer background.
• Highly valued: previous work with migrants, refugees or other vulnerable groups.
