Audit & Assurance Manager (or Senior Manager)

About the role

ASB is seeking a skilled audit professional to join its Audit & Assurance function. Reporting to the Head of Audit & Assurance Enablement, you will help shape risk‑focused assurance activities that deliver commercial value across the bank.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and execute efficient assurance reviews in line with ASB’s methodologies.
• Prepare and maintain high‑quality workpapers and audit documentation.
• Provide commercially grounded insights and recommendations for each review.
• Draft clear, well‑structured reports that drive understanding and action.
• Coach, mentor and develop team members, building capability across the function.
• Build strong, trusted relationships with stakeholders throughout the bank.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement and evolution of the Audit & Assurance practice.

Required profile

• Experience in internal audit, risk management (financial or non‑financial) or process improvement.
• Preferably exposure to compliance, conduct or CCCFA frameworks (not essential).
• Strong analytical thinking with a fact‑based approach.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to influence at all levels.
• Well‑developed stakeholder management and relationship‑building abilities.
• Robust planning and organisational capability focused on delivery.
• Sound commercial awareness and judgement.
• For senior‑manager candidates: demonstrated leadership, coaching and direction‑setting experience.
