Urban Transport Technical Officer

About the role

The Urban Transport Technical Officer will support the Transport Unit in delivering safe, smart and reliable travel options across the city. Working closely with the Parking Operations Specialist, you will help shape parking policy, investigate traffic restrictions and ensure compliance with legislation.

Key responsibilities

• Respond to and manage customer service requests related to parking and safety via the Authority platform.
• Create and distribute consultation letters, manage feedback, finalise proposals and communicate outcomes.
• Conduct site investigations, assess conditions and recommend practical parking solutions.
• Collaborate with Capital Projects Engineers and Development Engineers to update the Traffic Bylaw and parking restrictions for new infrastructure.
• Prepare scheduling documentation, visual illustrations and consultation feedback for committee reporting.
• Coordinate Additional Works Requests through the Connect Hamilton platform to implement approved traffic restriction changes, including road marking and signage.

Required profile

• General understanding of transport operations, parking management and regulatory frameworks.
• 2–3 years experience in a local government or similar transport/customer‑community role.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.
• Ability to interpret and apply legislation and bylaws in practice.
• Strong attention to detail and capability to audit technical data.
