Storeperson – Warehouse Operations

About the role

The Storeperson will support daily warehouse operations at Steel & Tube’s New Plymouth branch, handling steel products from receipt to dispatch. This hands‑on, physical role focuses on accurate stock management and safe handling in a fast‑moving environment.

Key responsibilities

• Receive, inspect and store incoming steel goods, ensuring traceability and damage‑free handling.
• Accurately measure, count, weigh, pick, bundle, pack and prepare orders for dispatch.
• Operate forklifts and crane equipment safely to load and unload vehicles.
• Use computer systems for order processing, stock look‑ups and documentation.
• Check orders before dispatch and package items to prevent damage.
• Maintain a clean, organised and safe work area, following all health & safety procedures.
• Report equipment issues promptly and participate in training programs.

Required profile

• Reliable, punctual and physically fit for manual handling duties.
• Forklift licence (or willingness to obtain one) and strong safety awareness.
• Attention to detail with accurate measuring and counting.
• Basic computer skills and ability to learn warehouse systems quickly.
• Positive team player with clear communication.
