Senior People Advisor

About the role

NZ Post is seeking a Senior People Advisor to provide expert HR guidance on complex employment relations and change initiatives. This 12‑month fixed‑term position, covering parental leave, offers exposure to strategic projects and a collaborative People Advisory Practice.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver expert advice on employee relations, policy, performance and change matters.
• Manage end‑to‑end complex cases, including investigations, grievances and mediations.
• Coach and influence leaders to strengthen people capability.
• Mentor junior People Advisors on complex work.
• Partner with offshore teams to ensure consistency and quality.
• Contribute to projects, policy development and continuous‑improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in HR advisory with a focus on complex employee relations.
• Proven ability to handle serious misconduct investigations and personal grievance issues.
• Strong coaching and influencing skills across multiple leadership levels.
• Experience working in unionised and complex environments.
• Demonstrated capability to mentor and develop junior advisors.
• Proactive mindset with a focus on quality outcomes.
