Senior Mechanical Engineer – Virtual Fencing Technology

About the role

eShepherd is looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to drive the development of next‑generation virtual fencing technology for agriculture. You will own mechanical design decisions from concept through production, testing, and field feedback, working in a fast‑moving R&D environment backed by Gallagher.

Key responsibilities

• Design mechanical components, assemblies, and mechanisms for new and existing farm‑technology products.
• Take ownership of designs from concept through to production release, including plastics, sheet‑metal, enclosures, and structural parts.
• Support prototyping, testing, Design‑for‑Manufacturing (DFM) reviews, and manufacturing readiness.
• Investigate in‑market product issues and lead root‑cause analysis activities.
• Translate customer and field feedback into product improvements.
• Collaborate with suppliers and manufacturing partners to optimise performance and reliability.
• Contribute to engineering best practices and mentor less‑experienced engineers.

Required profile

• 5+ years of experience in mechanical or product development engineering.
• Proven experience designing physical products that have reached production.
• Hands‑on, problem‑solving mindset with a passion for building real‑world solutions.
