Senior Lawyer

About the role

As a Senior Lawyer at ANZ, you will join a leading legal team providing high‑quality, commercially focused advice to support the bank’s strategy across New Zealand. You will work closely with product, risk and business partners to embed legal considerations into decisions and help manage regulatory risk.

Key responsibilities

• Provide timely, practical legal support for a range of initiatives and business projects.
• Partner with stakeholders across product, risk and other areas to identify and address legal issues early.
• Support regulatory and policy compliance, ensuring alignment with legal obligations and internal standards.
• Build and maintain strong relationships across the organisation to enable effective collaboration.
• Contribute to external stakeholder interactions when required, representing ANZ’s interests.
• Promote a proactive, risk‑aware culture through guidance and thought leadership.

Required profile

• At least 5 years post‑qualification experience from a top‑tier New Zealand law firm or large organisation, preferably in banking, financial services or a regulated industry.
• Proven ability to deliver pragmatic, commercially relevant legal advice in a complex environment.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.
• Curious and pragmatic problem‑solving mindset.
