Regional Manager – South Island

About the role

Based in Christchurch, you will lead SGS’s Regulatory business across the South Island. This senior, hands‑on position is responsible for growing the service portfolio, driving performance and ensuring operational excellence.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, coach and develop a high‑performing team of Engineer Surveyors.
• Promote a culture of safety, teamwork and customer satisfaction.
• Oversee day‑to‑day operations including scheduling, job delivery, timesheets and invoicing.
• Own the P&L, improve business performance and operational efficiency.
• Identify and pursue new business opportunities throughout the region.
• Build and maintain strong client relationships.

Required profile

• Experience in engineering, regulatory or industrial services.
• Proven leadership experience managing technical teams.
• Ability to juggle multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
• Commercial acumen with understanding of financial performance (P&L).
• Knowledge of statutory, regulatory and safety requirements.
• Mechanical Engineering degree preferred; CBIP qualifications advantageous.
