Project Manager

About the role

Transpower is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead infrastructure projects across New Zealand’s transmission network. Based in Wellington, Hamilton or Palmerston North, you will own projects from planning through delivery and close‑out, ensuring they are safe, on‑time, and within budget.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and coordinate asset outages to enable construction activities.
• Work with the Environment team and stakeholders to secure consents and meet regulatory requirements.
• Manage contractors and delivery partners across geographically dispersed sites.
• Deliver building and grounds projects such as roof replacements, seismic strengthening, fire system upgrades, security fencing, and protective coating programmes.
• Conduct on‑site quality assurance checks and ensure safe outcomes.
• Contribute to broader asset renewal programmes supporting New Zealand’s electrification journey.

Required profile

• 5+ years of experience delivering building, construction, or infrastructure projects.
• Strong capability in planning, budgeting, scheduling, risk, and delivery management.
• Proven ability to work with contractors, consultants, suppliers, and stakeholders at all levels.
• Commitment to health and safety with solid understanding of relevant legislation and best practice.

Required skills

• Experience using project, financial, reporting, and document management systems.
