Operations Manager – Business & Industry

About the role

Compass Group New Zealand is looking for an experienced Operations Manager to lead Business & Industry sites across the country. You will partner with clients and site managers to drive operational excellence, safety and continuous improvement in a fast‑growing catering sector.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute client relationship and growth strategies through account planning and portfolio performance reviews.
• Monitor financial performance, manage budgets, and identify cost‑saving opportunities while supporting Unit Operations Managers with labour and consumable controls.
• Lead, coach and motivate site managers and their teams, ensuring succession planning, training and high standards of behaviour.
• Maintain compliance, risk management and safety leadership, delivering accurate reporting across all sites.
• Implement sector strategy, lead change initiatives and promote business excellence for consistent operations.

Required profile

• Proven multi‑site operational management experience in a service‑industry environment, preferably catering or food services.
• Track record of delivering premium food offerings, functions and events.
• Strong commercial acumen with experience in budgeting, business improvement and contract management.
• Excellent communication and influencing skills to engage clients, stakeholders and diverse teams.
• Deep understanding of health, safety and environmental leadership.
• Demonstrated ability to develop people, drive change and achieve high‑performance outcomes.
