Manager, External Reporting & Tax

About the role

We are looking for an experienced, commercially‑minded Manager to lead External Reporting and Tax for Suncorp New Zealand on a 13‑month fixed‑term contract. The role reports to Finance leadership and is responsible for delivering high‑quality IFRS‑compliant financial statements and overseeing all tax compliance matters.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and publish IFRS‑compliant financial reports for all entities, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
• Manage the full external audit cycle, liaising with auditors and delivering high‑quality audit outputs.
• Provide technical accounting advice on new transactions, projects and evolving standards.
• Oversee tax compliance (excluding payroll tax), ensuring timely filings and payments.
• Deliver expert tax advice on transactions, product development, regulatory changes and cross‑border issues.
• Lead, coach and develop a high‑performing team, fostering a culture of performance and continuous improvement.

Required profile

• Commerce or Law degree with CA/CPA qualification.
• 8‑10+ years post‑qualification experience in financial reporting and tax, preferably in Big 4 or corporate environment.
• Strong influencing and stakeholder‑management skills.
• Excellent communication, problem‑solving and decision‑making abilities.
