Lead Fullstack Developer (React/Next.js)

About the role

AKQA is looking for a Lead Fullstack Developer to design, build, and optimise high‑performance web applications using React and Next.js. You will work in a collaborative, hybrid environment, shaping digital experiences for world‑class clients while mentoring junior engineers.

Key responsibilities

• Develop robust, accessible, and performant web applications across the full stack.
• Partner with multidisciplinary teams to design and implement strategic technical solutions.
• Advocate best practices in code quality, security, and performance.
• Mentor junior developers and help evolve engineering standards.
• Maintain CI/CD pipelines on Vercel and manage UI component libraries with Storybook.

Required profile

• Strong foundation in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, TypeScript, React, Next.js, and Node.js.
• Experience with Headless CMS, Git, Vercel, Tailwind or Sass, and Storybook.
• Proficiency in Agile/Scrum processes and cross‑browser testing.
• Solid understanding of accessibility (W3C), SEO, and performance optimisation.
• Ability to translate Figma designs into pixel‑perfect code.
• Experience writing unit tests with Jest and React Testing Library.
